Perfluorohexane is an important alternative to halogenated fire extinguishing agents. It is a compound of fluorinated ketones, a clear, colorless, odorless liquid that is super pressurized with nitrogen and stored as part of a high-pressure gas cylinder in a fire extinguishing system. Its chemical structure is the same as 3M's NOVEC 1230 firefighting fluid.
